I recently took an elective class called The Heart of a Song, not realizing we would actually have to sing (haha) as a part of our assignments. While I love to sing, I am private about my performances, only singing at home and in my car. Needless to say, I was a little nervous but then I realized, what the fuck…I am done hiding myself from the world in this way and decided to be vulnerable. I chose The Rose for my first performance assignment for many reasons. One, I have loved this song since I was a child. Emotionally, it has always spoken to me, even at a young age, when I didn’t really know what love was. The older I get, the more this song speaks to me. For me, it defines love, which can be both blissful and painful. It sends a message that everyone is deserving of love. That love is organic and timeless. Love never dies.
Enjoy. Thank you for listening.
